Tack sharp and fine grain

Best in 120 but 35mm is still good. My poor phone camera can't focus properly here.

Delta Dabbling

First time out with Ilford Delta 100. Mamiya C220 TLR, 80mm lens and a very shaded waterfall for the first frame. Maybe not the best option for this film. Though it isn't supposed to be so forgiving, I suspect it is going to be stronger with extremes than I thought. Grain is fine and the sharpness is impressive. I'll need to approach it a little differently. I was worried about underexposing it, whereas most of the 12 images I have, would have been improved with a little bit less exposure. I need to shoot another roll with a yellow filter and experiment more with the light meter before reaching a firm conclusion. This is clearly a lovely film, but perhaps one that needs a considered approach. It may take a couple of rolls to get used to its nuances, but I will certainly be getting more. I have some in 5x4 sheet that I have exposed in the 'big camera' waiting to be developed. Quite excited to see what it can do in that format. Got a feeling it is going to be great in a church with soft light through the windows.

The best B&W film you can buy

Delta 100 is an all round great looking film. The grain is fine, the contrast ratio incredible and the resulting look is hard to beat. If you check some of my sample shots you'll see one of them shooting straight into the sun - just slightly obscured behind a tree - but not only are there still details in the white clouds, but the direct shadow of the tree also has detail. It is very robust, with a lot of potential push if you want it although you will lose some of that beautiful subtlety in the greys and end up with a harder edged, more contrasty look. I develop at home with Ilford Ilfosol 3 and a fine developer really compliments the fine grain in the film. Sample shots are from my Hasselblad 500CM. I just love Delta 100! If I could only shoot on one film of the rest of my life, this would be it.

great tones and contrasts!

Tried this out on holiday and the results were brilliant! The contrast is great so be sure to look for nice shadows especially in architecture. Great to use :)
