Why We Love It
🎞️ Brilliant Colours, Beautiful Detail Phoenix II has been refined to produce natural, vibrant colours with crisp clarity. Skin tones look gorgeous, greens stay fresh, and reds pop just right - with the halation glow that we all loved from Phoenix 1!
🌤️ Handles Light Like a Pro From golden hour to overcast afternoons, Phoenix II is flexible and forgiving. Its wider dynamic range helps you keep those precious details in both highlights and shadows, even in tricky lighting conditions.
🌀 Smoother Grain, Cleaner Scans With a redesigned grain structure, this film offers cleaner, sharper images and smoother transitions. Ideal for both printing and high-quality lab scans with minimal editing.
🧪 C-41 Friendly Like your favourite colour films, Harman Phoenix II 35mm is processed using the standard C-41 method. So it's easy and fast for our lab to process, and easy to drop off with your usual film batch.
📷 Everyday Versatility Whether you're capturing candid portraits, colourful travel scenes, or the quiet magic of the everyday, this film has your back. It's forgiving on exposure, consistent in results, and bursting with creative potential.

I ran this as a test roll through a new (to me) point and shoot camera from eBay to make sure the camera was working. I was using two cameras that weekend and wanted to be able to tell the film apart from then other dozen I shot so I knew which camera I had used. The images from this film are so disctinctive I chose it for this. Rainy day, dull flat light, and yet this film delivered. I love it. If I could afford to use it all the time I certainly would. There is a pink tone to the photos that makes me smile and gives the photos an edge.

Improved, but retains character
This is an improvement from the original Phoenix with smaller grain, less halation and a bit more latitude in the exposure. It still has distinctive colours and will surprise you with some of the colour shifts. My roll contained several lovely shots, mostly where there were a couple of strong colours (see the mushrooms).
However, I mostly shoot landscapes and people so I will be sticking to other film stocks.

Peculiar, but I'll try again.
I had differing results with this one, most of my scans had an extreme green cast and noticeable blue artefacts throughout which were more prevalent in lower light/images with flash. I do however think this was an batch anomaly and AW's customer service was fantastic. I will probably try at least one more roll in the future to see the whole spectrum. (the images taken in bright daylight were much more appealing, some with beautiful halation oddly enough.)
