Description

Kosmo Foto Mono is a fantastic-looking 35mm film taking inspiration from East European graphic art and the Space Race to bring some Soviet excitement to our cameras! This 35mm film ISO 100 is a long-established emulsion from a European film producer that will deliver black and white images with a beautiful grainy finish. Well-suited to sunny days and studio lighting, this B&W Kosmo Foto Mono is a very promising first outing from the brand.

Kosmo Foto began life as blog (previously called Zorki Photo) in 2012 and quickly gained a big and loyal following thanks to the original and interesting content. Fast forward a few years and they are taking a front seat in the resurgence of analogue photography, producing their first film (Mono) - a rebrand of a less-well-known emulsion - in 2017. Sales have been strong and we hope to see much more of this brand in the coming years!

Character and happiness

This was my first time shooting black and white film, I had received this in my first Wonderbox and put it into my Pentax spotmatic F. I loved shooting this film , the low ISO caught me off guard for about 5 shots as I got used to exposing it in the dull Scottish weather but after a while I got used to it and the results were very pleasing - it even managed to really capture snowy scenes really well without being blown out by the light reflections on the snow.

Did this film just make me love black and white?

I'm a digital baby but have always dabbled in film. I'm all about the colour in my professional work & have never really enjoyed black & white. The feel of this film is absolutely lovely though. I pushed it a couple of stops on my recent walk with my new born son & girlfriend & just got the scans back. I absolutely adore the start contrast this film gives you. Will definitely be buying again!

Perfect grain & contrast (depending on developing - I use 9 minutes in D-76 @20C) and overall great film. Not the best film to push/pull but it works +/- 1 or 2 stops . Best packaging of any film stock!
