Kentmere was a small black-and-white film manufacturer based in the Lake District for many years. It was acquired by Ilford's parent company in 2007, who consolidated production in their Mobberley plant. The brand exists as a more-affordable alternative to Ilford, with the same quality and consistency of production but with savings made in the emulsion chemicals.

Good for anything

You can do anything you like with this film. It is not too grainy, but just grainy enough that it feels authentically like proper film. Everything is nice and sharp. The only limitation is the mildness of the contrast, which can sometimes take away some of the punch. I will use it when I am just out with a roll and I don't know what I will find worth shooting.

The best budget black and white

I cannot believe the results I get from this film, as someone who shoots tons of black and white, I always pack a few rolls of this film.

It's so versatile, it's soft, has beautiful grain, yet sti has contrast. It is a go to that I love so much. The use for daylight and night is surprising, I never planned to use it for all but it works so well

Good film for film beginners

My first ever roll of film, I was very nervous going into it.
Unlike other film samples I've seen online, I felt like the images were nice and crisp. Visible detail and good contrast in darker parts of photos(although I don't know how much of that comes up to film and how much comes up to the camera settings, still a beginner to film photography.)

I love the results I received from this film because it reminded me of old photos from the 50s-60s, which is why I immediately bought two more rolls! Definitely would recommend to everyone :)
