JCH StreetPan 400 35mm High Contrast B&W Film

Our Price: £10.00 GBP

The JCH Street Pan 400 film has quickly gained a loyal following from 35mm photographers who love its high-contrast and high-grain feel. Images have an interesting charcoal result without losing the sharpness of the subject, and the emulsion is forgiving on overexposure. When paired with a dark red filter, you’ll find that this high contrast black and white film can also act as an infrared film  — with high sensitivity in the IR range.

A worthy NeoPan Replcment

I love the contrast and feel to this film, It has a very similar feel to the old fuji neopan.

High Contrast

Great high contrast B&W film with very low grain. You can really quickly point and shoot this without too much worry, as long as you've got the light - I always overexpose this to ensure you get the detail in the shadows, otherwise you're left with heavy blocks of black, which is great if thats the look you want. It has great tones for street (if you've got enough light), and can look really great in a controlled situation too, however due to it's bold characteristics I wouldn't say its an all-rounder. You really need to load StreetPan specifically with shooting StreetPan in mind, but by all means try it out if you like the look.

Perfect for: Street Photography, Architecture, Low light/Night
Very distinct look at a price

This film gives you a very high contrast, grainy result. This can be very effective for street photography if that's what you are looking for as it makes for some dramatic shots.

If you want a more subtle result then this is not the film for you.

The clear backing will also need a bit of getting used to if printing or scanning yourself.

Perfect for: Portraits, Street Photography
Very high contrast emsulsion

I'm not a huge fan of this film, but that's down to personal taste. If you're looking for a heavy high contrast emulsion, then this is definitely worth a go!

Perfect for: Great All-Rounder, Portraits, Street Photography, Creative/Abstract, Travel
Good stuff

This emulsion is worth its marketing. High contrast but not too high; almost no grain; tolerance to mistakes, pretty much makes it perfect for point-and-shoot travel and street stuff.
