My new favourite film

I got a box of the Foma Creative 200 in a wonderbox and thought I would try its faster sibling. I'm pleased to say it's just as good and is probably my new favourite film. Cheap too which is nice. It's so forgiving. I usually shoot it at ISO 800, but I don't bother getting the exposure spot on and just try to get within +- 1 stop. I have the lab develop at box speed. It handles this fine. With the right camera this film is usable freehand without flash in almost any lighting. It's a little grainy which isn't to everyone's taste but I like it. The grain isn't overpowering like pushed HP5+ or TMAX.

Perfect for street

I love Foma films for so many reasons. let me count the ways!
1. Cheap. So cheap that it has no business being this good.
2. Skin tones. Foma renders reds very differenty and smooths skin tones out so, so nicely. If you want a portrait film, this is it!
3. Versatile. I push Foma 400 to 16 and stand develop in Caffenol every single time and it is beautiful. I suspect it could easily go to 3200 too.
4. Value. Fomapan (with all their films) give you so much more film on a 35mm roll that any other company. I constantly get a bunch of extra shots, sometimes i get so many extra that I worry I haven't loaded my camera properly becasue I'm so far past the end point.

Retrotastic

This film is very grainy when scanned but seems to print well. You do need to meter correctly for the shadows as it doesn't appear to have a lot of latitude but it does have a decent amount of contrast even without a yellow filter. This film probably has the look of the original 35mm Kodak Tri-X. I've got another two rolls to use up and look forward to the results. Lab procssed by Analogue Wonderland.

Value for money film..!!

I shot my latest roll of Fomapan 400 while out at Kings Lynn Mart (Traveling Fairground) yesterday with my friend, Paul.
I shot it in my Petri GX-4 and developed it in HC110 Dilution E for 9 mins at 20°C and scanned the negatives using the Lomography Digitaliza Max system .
This film, though not the best 400 ISO monochrome film on the market, certainly represents good value for money, giving somewhat more than "what you pay for". 👍

Value for money film

Fomapan 400 isn't my favourite of the Foma films, but it certainly represents good value for money, producing very useable images. I must say though, that for 400 speed, I prefer the look of Fomapan 100 that's been pushed by 2 stops...but maybe that's just me!?
