Description

The rare Premium version of the ever-popular Fujifilm Superia! Specially imported from Japan for European photographers to try, this film is one of the best all-rounders available today.

It provides rich bright colours, sharp detail, and smooth and natural skin tones in a whole variety of lighting and photographic situations. It also looks better under artificial light than its 'normal' Superia cousin - thanks to more advanced colour balance.

Fuji is one of the most famous Japanese global brands - and along with Eastman Kodak - dominated the film photography market for most of the 20th century. However the dawn of digital photography put significant strain on it's operations and it has restructured itself (and part-merged with Xerox) around a more diverse set of industries such as digital press, computer systems, and photocopying services. It's focus on traditional film has waned (giving rise to the nickname "FujiNOTfilm") - discontinuing several lines which has caused understandable upset among loyal users and planning to cut several more. However their creation and innovation of the Fuji Instax system (the most popular instant photography format today) means they will remain relevant to analogue photography for many years to come.

So far the best Fuji roll I've tried

Like any other colour Fuji stock, Superia Premium really loves greens, blues and reds, but this film rendered any colour brilliantly. I was amazed at how wonderful the colours looked when I shot this roll. After a few months disappointment of poor results with Kodak Gold and Portra, I'd love to shoot this again.

Really surprised at how good this is!

I originally purchased this because Analogue Wonderland was temporarily out of Portra 400. I'm not a massive fan of the colour balance of some Fujifilm; 400H seems to skew a bit too green for my tastes, and standard Superia seems like more of a Kodak Gold equivalent than a viable alternative to Portra.

This Superia Premium really took me by surprise. The colours are nicely balanced and slightly pastelly, green cast is minimal to non-existent, and it's pretty fine grained for a 400 ISO colour negative film. I'm not sure it'll replace Portra 400 as my preferred 'do everything' colour negative film, but it was a fun experiment, and I'd happily use it again.

Ptetty good

Fujifilm Superia Premium 400 135-36 is a versatile, all-round high-speed film. Its high sensitivity allows you to capture images even under insufficient light conditions. It delivers bright, rich colours, smooth natural skin tones, and sharp images in an extensive range of photographic environments. Achieve incredible results for snapshots, sporting events, daytime scenes, indoors (with flash), unpredictable weather conditions: sharp, detailed images with accurate true-to-life colours. Fluorescent light also plays to this film's strengths.

Fantastic film thank you AW

This film has that little extra tastiness to its colour and contrast. The film, in true fuji fashion has an extra layer that gives the film most ability to render colours. It is specifically aimed towards those with Asian skin tones, hence why this film is prominently available in Japan, however, I have found that it works well anywhere. Personally I found its saturation perfect for building and architecture photography.
The only reason I give this a 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because it does tend to bring a pinker hue out in the colours of non-Asian skin tones. This isn' t that noticeable but it is present and does slightly take away from its versatility considering the price.
Despite this I would definately recommend to anyone beginner or experienced.
