What is 35mm film?
35mm film is the most common format in analogue photography. Created in the 1920s with the introduction of the first Leica camera, it was originally called 'miniature' as it was smaller than the standard medium format (120) and large format films of the era. Over time its convenience and reliability made it the top choice for consumer photography, to the extent that its dimensions define the digital standard of 'Full Frame': 36x24mm with a 3:2 ratio. It is also known as 135 format.
