Fuji is one of the most famous Japanese global brands - and along with Eastman Kodak - dominated the film photography market for most of the 20th century. However the dawn of digital photography put significant strain on it's operations and it has restructured itself (and part-merged with Xerox) around a more diverse set of industries such as digital press, computer systems, and photocopying services. It's focus on traditional film has waned (giving rise to the nickname "FujiNOTfilm") - discontinuing several lines which has caused understandable upset among loyal users and planning to cut several more. However their creation and innovation of the Fuji Instax system (the most popular instant photography format today) means they will remain relevant to analogue photography for many years to come.

Don’t freeze it, use it

As soon as the shout went up that this film has come to an end I jumped on a bought myself 5 rolls. That was 4 months ago…they were just sitting in my fridge reluctant to use them.

Finally I put a roll in my Fuji GA645 and went off to look for something.

First impressions are is it’s a fine grained film with lovely colours, better dynamic range than I thought.

I’ve now run through 2 more rolls and will use them all rather than keeping rolls chilled.

unbelievable sharpness

really think this film is worth the hype, gorgeous reds and greens, more versatile than a lot of people led on, and at 400 speed its a perfect all rounder

This film will be missed....

This is my first time using Fuji Pro 400H after picking up a few rolls of it. And before I'd even received my scans back from the lab on my first roll... the announcement came that the eumlsion is being discontinued.

Which is a great shame. Because I can now see why photographers have loved this emulsion for quite some time. The colours have a lovely pop to them whilst remaining exactly as they were when I shot them. It has a very realistic, authentic look.

Try to grab some whilst you still can. I think I'll put my rolls in deep freeze and get them out for special occasions!

Top of the pile

I’m going to miss this film once stock finally goes. My favourite 120 stock.

Nice sharpness and pleasant grain. More importantly the colours are very impressive. Greens look really lovely. Underexposed areas do start getting a bit muddy if they’re quite dark, but the slight green tint is very nice, and is easy to remove in post if preferred

Great film for nature photography and more

This is one of the most colour- accurate negative films in the market! Has a great resolution and exposure latitude similar to Portra 400 film. Works best when developed in Fuji own brand CN-16 chemistry. Great for both - portrait and nature photography; produces warm Portra-like images when overexposed by one stop to 200 ISO.
