Ilford was founded in 1879 in the English town of the same name. They are B&W royalty in the photography industry thanks to their 140-year heritage and their support for photographers with chemicals and development as well as film. In the mid-20th Century they produced several well-regarded camera lines (including one given to Princess Elizabeth that was later stolen!) but today they are focused on producing the best films and development processes that they can.

This film has a reputation for a reason, it's rock solid, reliable and consistent.
Great for the seasoned film shooter or the novice easy to home develop too.
There’s a reason this film only has 5 star reviews, it’s because it’s the greatest black and white film on the market. For £4.50 (24) you can do so much with this film; push, pull, in, out, shake it all about.
HP5 - is a lovely film to use, I have used it in 35mm and 120mm formats and it never lets you down. .
you can push this film easily to 1600 in low light and still get the images you want.
In my opinion, this is the best 35mm black and white film on the market. It shoots amazing well in all lighting situations and can be pushed up to 1600/3200 without losing much detail either!
Develops super well with ilford chemistry such as Ilfosol 3 or DD-X. Negatives dry amazingly flat also, which helps massively with scanning or using in the darkroom.
I’ll be leaving reviews throughout the website with pictures for full frame scans, so if you’re like me who loves to see the entire image and border, you can see what the results will be like.
Like many others, I start my analogic adventure with this film. HP5+ is a good all-rounder film. HP+s flexibility makes it the perfect choice for the beginner and is an attractive feature for the professional photographer.
When I loaded my second-ever (an HP5+ film indeed) on my camera, it took me half of the roll to notice that I set the wrong asa setting. I was shooting the film at 800 asa.
Fortunately, this film is very suitable to push (and pull), so in the end, I save my photos!
