Affordable but in no way inferior to other brands. One of my most often used films in both 120 and 35mm format.
This film has exceptional latitude and is readily available. This sample shot was taken on a 6x9cm camera at ISO 100 and developed in Perceptol at 1+3 dilution. As you can see, it doesn't disappoint as a film!
I use vintage medium format folding cameras and FP4+ 125 is perfect for them on sunny days. The tonal range is simply beautiful.
I've been using FP4+ for a very long time now and despite all the other films that have come and gone, I still find myself returning to it. It has a wonderful 'look' for want to a better word - combine it with a decent lens or two and you've got a negative that prints well. I've found it suited to a good range of developers too - HC110 and Pyrocat-HD being my favourites, but I've also used it with Rodinal (et al) D76/ID11, Microphen and XTOL. I found best results rating it at EI 80 - OK it makes handheld more difficult, but I mostly work from a tripod anyway - this being said given some decent weather, it is eminently suitable as a walkabout film. Give it a go - you might well come to love it. By the way, the river shot is Pyrocat and the building is HC 110.
FP4 in a few slightly different forms, has been around for a LONG time, and the reason for that is...it does exactly what you expect it should do.
If you do your bit, FP4 will give you fantastic results every time.
