Hard to love

Caveat - i only shot one roll in my OM1. I found this slow film shot at box speed came out a bit underexposed, I’d definitely give it an extra stop if I were to shoot it again. It’s extremely contrast. I found it scratched easily too.

Very high contrast

A roll of Washi S was contained in one of my "Wonderboxes" and I eventually loaded it into my Pentax Super A during a trip to New York City. It is a really difficult film to use due to the very high contrast. I had a very low keeper rate, although the few images I did like were pretty nice. It is relatively fine grained (as it should be for ISO 50) and the keepers are nicely sharp. With practice one could develop an "eye" for the film, but it is certainly not an every day emulsion.

DIFFERENT!!

I bought this film just over a year ago, but only got arround to shooting it a few weeks ago. As it's a bit of a "different" film, I decided to try something different by way of developing, and went with a semi-stand development in HC110. This surprised me somewha
inthat it gave some mid tones to this film that's renowned as "BLACK and WHITE". It's not a film I can see myself using very often, but it may be good for some shilouette photos at some point.

Give it a go

I thought I'd try the Washi S for something different. Yes it's contrasty, but pleasingly so. To get the best results I'd plan what I'm going to use it for, rather than shoot randomly - some subjects obviously work better than others. I heard a rumour it's being discontinued, so I'd grab it while you can.

Does what is says on the can.

slaps you in the face and calls you Keith , this is a fun fun film to use. super contrast and super fine detail. get it right and its just FAB. buy two rolls, the first one might suck but you will nail it with the second one.
