Great all rounder

I found this a very complimentary film, which worked very well under studio lighting! I am very happy with my results and think that anyone would be happy with their results too!

Great all round film

I recently bought myself a ‘refurbished’ Kiev 88 and I was wanting to test it out to make sure it was all in working order because you can never be too sure with ebay listings, so i decided to buy some HP5+ because it’s a very very versatile film with loads of leeway to under and over exposing it.

I highly recommend this film

Very forgiving film!

Returning to film photography after nearly 20 years absence I have acquired an Ensign 'Commando' folding rangefinder camera which is 2 or 3 years older than myself! I wanted to try using a film with a good reputation and reasonably priced (in case of failures!)
I sometimes used a light meter app. on my phone, metering for shadow but mostly worked on "guesstimates" and hoped for the best.
The results were very acceptable indeed.
The exposure range was broad enough to allow for my, sometimes arbitrary, settings not to matter too much.
The amount of grain and the range of tones I found very pleasing and although most of my shots were landscapes or architecture I would think that the lovely gradation of tones would be excellent for portraiture too.
I had the HP5+ developed by AG photo labs B'ham at box speed and scanned the negatives with my Epson V500 scanner. I found that very little post-processing was needed at all.
I would recommend HP5+ 120 to beginners and analogue returnees, particularly in view of its very reasonable price.
