Great value

I used this film a few weeks ago and was really happy with the results. I’m a complete beginner so really good to try out value film. I didn’t think the photos would turn out brilliantly due to conditions at the time but really happy.
Shot using Canon A1 with canon fd 50mm f/1.8 (nothing groundbreaking!).

First few rolls went very well.

As a re-introduction to film use for my 50s/60s retro consumer rangefinders, I chose Fomapan as it was cheap, with encouraging reviews. My first couple of rolls showed that my cameras had some shutter speed issues and that my metering via an App was off. When these were corrected, I was very pleased with the results from simple processing at home and believe that it will be capable of the kind of film "moodiness" that I hope to achieve. I'm not looking for ultimate sharpness, digital is good for that, but for something softer with subtle grain and character (hopefully the cameras will provide the softness and the film the grain and mood).
It processed very well in Ilfosol3, dried nicely, flat and scanned well.
With this performance and at this price, Fomapan must be worth 5 stars!
I'll be buying more.

ok but b/w is ilford's game

I develop my own film using ilford chemicals and ordered 5 rolls of foma 100. The film is too thin to stick to the gears of my camera so as a result it takes about 5 blank pictures until the wheels kick in and the film gets rolling properly. When developed some intresting effects take place- 2 rolls came back blanks and the rest came back looking fragmented and grainy or covered in little lines due to the thin nature of the film. I would not recommend this unless you know what you are doing That being said i have had some ok pictures from the ones that did come out but the ilford fp4/ hp5 films are better in that category.

Awesome film

I love Fomapan films. They're cheap and give excelletn results time and time again. I'll often go off and dabble with other films but always come back to Foma as my day-to-day films.

The 100 has a lovely tonality and fine grain. It's not completely absent of grain like some 100 speed black and white films are. But if I wanted no grain at all then I'd probably not shoot film!

Great stuff.
