I bought this a while ago and, because of the terrible rainy, grey winter we've had, I stuck it in the fridge and left it there. However, the other day the sun came out, so I put some in my Minolta SRT 101 and WOW!

This is a very impressive orthochromatic film, giving you the true look of the 1930s.

I developed it in Adox Rodinal and the negatives came out quite contrasty. After scanning it first looked like the highlights were totally blown and I was prepared to be disappointed, but after a quick editing session, most of which was spent taming the highlights and opening the shadows slightly, I was extremely impressed with the results.

Well worth it and I'm looking forward to getting more, when it's back in stock.

The last film I tried out of the Wonderbox, wanted to wait for an appropriately atmospheric location to pop up and it delivered exactly what I was after. Super contrasty, coped very nicely on an overcast day despite the low ISO.

I like Ferrania P30 and when I heard they were bringing out Orto 50 I wanted to give it a try at some point. That came recently when I shot a roll and I have to say it's a pretty solid effort from Ferrania. Orthochromatic film isn't sensitive to red light, anything you photograph that is red will show as black in your photos. I had hoped for a sunny day to use my Orto 50 to it's full potential, but this is Wigan and I had to make do with overcast sky. Orto 50 handled it rather well and it wont be long before I use it again. Roll on Springtime.

This film has a very punchy contrast, which can give a great effect, providing your subject is able to stand out enough.

I used this film to shoot abandoned mining/quarry buildings, as well as some general mountain landscape shots and it perfromed admirably.

Even with the low ISO of 50, I was able to get some action shots of birds flying on a cloudy day. The low ISO gives this film a fine grain which helps to bring out the detail in shots.

This is the first Orthochromatic film I have used but, I can safely say that there will be a stash of this in the fridge from now on. If you're into B&W film then I would recommend giving this a go as it has a very unique look.

A little PSA, I did get my film role after winning a competition with Analogue Wonderland. But, I enjoyed shooting this film so much I will be purchasing more roles myself.

I really liked the results from this film having not used it before. I really feel it has a strange magical feel to it. It came in the Wonderbox which I would also really recommend if you want to experiment with different films regularly!
