This is an extremely simple camera even by Instax standards. There is a shutter. You can set it to one of two modes: regular or selfie (which doubles up as close-up, for subjects around 50cm away). And that's about it. But simple cameras can be fun to use, and can even be inspiring, by removing distractions and forcing us to work within constraints. I have the terracotta version which I love the look of. I gave it four stars only because (a) I wish there was a way to switch the flash off, and (b) I think the shutter release is not very well designed, with a real risk of accidentally pressing it and wasting an exposure, which has happened to me a few times already. But despite these limitations I really like it, and would choose it above any of the other Instax cameras currently on offer.
A really great camera! It's fun, the quality is pretty good for an instant camera and the colour is great.
The only slightly annoying thing is the flash isn't controllable but I haven't really had any issues with this. It goes off in daytime still but not noticeable and sometimes helps with portraits.
Upgraded from my Instax mini to this gorgeous Instax square. Love love love the colour and the simplified version of the square, keeping the photo taking process authentically analogue.
