VIKINGS! LOOKING GOOD!

Camera - Yashica C TLR
Location - JORVIK Viking Festival (outdoors)

Do you want to bring a sense of the dramatic and timeless wonder to your photography? Then I would 100% recommend Lucky SHD 400 because it can do just that!

I used this film outdoors on a sunny day during the JORVIK Viking Festival 2025 and it did not fail me. Just look at the contrast, how the black & white is working with the light to draw out the stories being told in the image, it's some of my favourite work! Especially from looking at those Viking shields.

Love the contrast and grain

Loved the results from this film, superb contrast and nice grain texture gave very characterful images.
I tried it in low light indoors and outside under bright sunlight and found it captured shadow and highlight detail with deep blacks and bright whites.
Shot it on a Mamaya RB67, the negatives are beautifully bright and crisp, with an interestingly clear base
I also tried 100ISO 35mm and found similar impressive results

Very nice high contrast BW film

I tested this film and the 35mm version for AW and have to say that LUCK SHD is fact becoming a favourite filmstock. I shot it indoors at a TCG event with a Fuji 645 rangefinder, and although it worked well here, it would help from more dynamic lighting or outdoors.

It has a very clear base which allows for strong contrast, but as you can see from some of the photographs here, it can still deliver mid tones well. I have not taken it into the darkroom yet, but found the emulsion from 35mm to be very fun to print.

Here it was developed by the Wonderlab and they use Ilfosol 3, i will try it next time with Rodinal to see how it compares.
