I know the changes haven’t been popular but for me, receiving a better balance of films is just what I wanted. 2 colour and 2 B&W in the last box fits better with what I shoot. Having started colour processing the volume of B&W is less now, and I don’t get through 4 reels as quickly - hence I’ve already a backlog. So for me the new box is a good change.
As with the other reviewer, Marie B. I have been a long time Wonderbox Subscriber but since they have now made the changes it is no longer with it.
The films received are available for £49 from the website. The box £50.
I see no meaningful saving anymore.
The films are ok but nothing interesting.
I will be cancelling my subscription.
As a few others have mentioned it's a mixed review: there is nothing wrong with the film, or even film choices themselves - I actually really enjoyed Wolfen UN54 and I probably wouldn't have picked that myself. However, I felt it was pitched as being a way to save a little on film by buying a few at once, with the added excitement of the possibility of some unusual/experimental film. There wasn't much (if any) saving.
I'm thinking I might keep it for one more round just to see if it improves, but if it's similar again, then I won't bother again.
I've been a box subscriber for some time (the £60 box), and I loved receiving experimental film in the post to work with and try out. I'm not happy at all with this new subscription format, though. The films I received this month cost £49 on the website. At £50 a box, you're not saving anything, and the films in the box are nothing special in any event. I've cancelled my subscription, and I'll choose my own film from now on.
