movie film at a great price, fantastic way to dip your toe into the world of cine film. got some amazing results too.
This is by far the most affordable 8mm film on the market today- by about £40-50 😳
You need to be careful of course when loading, as you can't afford to mess anything up at these prices- even AW can't get it below a certain price (how blasphemous of me 🙊🤣)
Somewhat grainy, but quite pleasant contrast, especially in the overcast days of the UK.
A very nice double 8 film stock 100 iso make for easy exposers and the film has a very nice contrast with lots of detail and not a lot of grain and of course it a reverse stock so it can be projected wich is alway nice the stills are from a 2k lab scan
There's not much std 8mm film available these days, and most is from small runs hand rolled. This is factory made by those lovely people at Foma Bohemia in the Czech republic. Medium contrast, fine grain and high speed for cine film. I've used this with a simple Russian Quarz M from the 50s and a mid 60s Chinon Master which has power zoom and auto exposure. The film ran smooth in both cameras and produced lovely film. The blacks are not inky black, this is similar in look to the current Kodak Tri-X. Just about usable in bright sunlight, better for overcast days or possibly indoors. Can't beat the price and processing isn't toooo costly either. Also possible to process yourself if you have the correct tank.
Please note my samples are still images from a compressed scan. The film looks better in motion especially on a projector.
All the times I have used it it has been a very good film which is very easy to use and has a very nice colour pallet. When exposed and focused well I have got nice sharp footage with a bright colour pallet. It also works very well in my 1960s Canon Motor Zoom 8 EEE. It is very versatile with an ISO of 100. It is also a very affordable film. It only costs £15.00 which is good compared to the £30.00 for 40iso black and white reversal film and £56.00 for 550T colour negative film. I would highly recommend Fomapan R100 for filming on a budget.
