Fujifilm Velvia 50 35mm Slide Film

Our Price: £20.00 GBP

Description

The world's best slide film with colours that explode from your photograph, high contrast and rich textures. Landscapes will look alive, sunsets will show more colours than you thought possible, and street life will be exciting and vivid. Note that portraits taken with Velvia will often look unflattering due to a red tint on skin tones, so keep your 35mm camera aimed squarely at life outside!

Fuji is one of the most famous Japanese global brands - and along with Eastman Kodak - dominated the film photography market for most of the 20th century. However the dawn of digital photography put significant strain on it's operations and it has restructured itself (and part-merged with Xerox) around a more diverse set of industries such as digital press, computer systems, and photocopying services. It's focus on traditional film has waned (giving rise to the nickname "FujiNOTfilm") - discontinuing several lines which has caused understandable upset among loyal users and planning to cut several more. However their creation and innovation of the Fuji Instax system (the most popular instant photography format today) means they will remain relevant to analogue photography for many years to come.

My favourite

If you like strong saturated colours, then this is for you! Great for long exposures in the evening light as long as you don't mind the colour shift (greenish in my experience). Photos will glow! Check the web for info on reciprocity failure on long exposures though. Spot meter your subject and let the reduced dynamic range of the film take over the composition. Bring a tripod! I feel results have a drawing-like quality at times.

Oh my....

I've shot a couple of rolls of Velvia 100 before and really liked it.....

.... I've often wondered if going for the 50 would be worth it. Oh boy, is it ever.....

Like Velvia 100 on steroids!

I'll let the images do the talking.

In lovely grecian summer light it was very forgiving as well, which was a nice bonus.

The slow speed slide film

This is the quintessential slow slide film, fantastic resolution, and sharpness, great high saturation and vibrancy.

Not great for portraits, but everything else will make it shine.

All time classic

My favourite slide film, love the oversaturated look and great colours that velvia produces. Ive used it on and off for my entire photographic life (30 years +) and can't think of anything I don't like about it. ISO 50 requires a good sunny day and coupled up with a good lens/camera combo can beat any digital or CSC hands down any day.

World-class levels of image color saturation and vibrancy.

The first time you try it, you will be hooked by the amazingly saturated colors that you get. I continue to be simply blown away by how Velvia 50 can take a wonderful, warm lighting situation and actually capture it in a more vivid manner than reality.
