Atomal is a classic developer, which is an excellent match for the more traditional emulsions from the likes of Foma and Lomography. It's a great alternative to Ilford's Perceptol and unlike Perceptol, it's available in 5L. packs. Beautifully smooth tones and fine grain-I can just hear Stephen Fry saying "smoother than a cashmere codpiece". Keep a sachet handy on your developing shelf.

this is a user friendly easy to use product. ideal for those of us just learning home developing.
I bought a roll of Adox HR-50 to try it out and I'll put a review up about that later. However I found that there wasn't a lot of information about developing Adox film using the more standard developers that I normally use, so I also bought a pack of Atomal 49 which works with this film.
I had a few issues with the film and my developing spiral but the part of the film that survived and got developed came out beautifully. The combination of the slow film and the fine detail developer produced some lovely photos.
If you have the patience to fiddle with thin-substrate films or have a professional level developing tank, this is a very good combination to get some high quality results.
I'm going to try out the rest of the batch with some other films to see if it might have some wider use.
A first use of Atomol .1:1 dilution decided on. My usual 10 mins develop , 5 mins fix.20 -25 deg C has turned out fine with the 400 asa
film. The developer is 3- part and one of the packets before opening
appeared to have solidified.Once opened however,the contents were
found to be o.k. Possibly the airtight envelope causing my small alarm.
The Atomol seems in character closer to Microphen than Perceptol with that mix of dark and white grains. In this pic feint shades of clouds pleasing. I think Atomol performed very well.
