A great stocking filler!
An essential tool for those moments when you've accidentally wound a film all the way back into its canister before it's finished! Simple and light, a life-saver to keep close at hand when you're out in the field. It is also useful for home development when you want to pull out an exposed reel (in darkness) without having to crack open the canister.
Where we ship
When you buy your camera film from us we can ship it across the UK, Europe, USA, New Zealand, Australia and Canada (more countries planned soon!) So buy your AP Film Retriever today and dive back into the fun of film photography!
If you want to develop your own film, you're going to need either a cannister opener or this little beauty. It takes a little getting used to, but it does exactly what it says. It retrieves your film. It is an essential item in your developing kit.
Just used this for the first time and it worked like a dream. Was initially confused by the instructions saying “against clockwise” (means anti clockwise) but once I realised my error the film was out in seconds. Off to have some fun double exposing the film I just retrieved now!
After trying a couple of other film retrievers and failing miserably, I found I was right to trust the AP brand and, after following the instructions to the letter, was able to successfully retrieve film. This will save a lot of blood, sweat and tears in the dark bag and nobody wants bodily fluids on their films. Worthwhile purchase.
Looooong time since I had used one of these and when I read the instructions I was concerned I had wasted my money. However I had not!
The quality of the English in the instructions isn’t great and if you haven’t used one of these before (or, like me, haven’t used one for ~22 years) that can make things confusing.
However with a couple of minutes practice it works an absolute charm. I would say this is a must have tool.
When I first saw it I was sceptical that it would retrieve the film leader on the first attempt. But it did...very simple to use, a great piece of kit...I've used it a just a few times but pleased I had it as it's already paid for itself by saving me film that may otherwise have been wasted.
