Portra 160 is one of the best slow-speed colour films ever seen - with very fine grain, high saturation and low contrast - and in large format this emulsion performs at its peak.
Portra 160 film in 4x5 will make children look angelic, your friends look beautiful, and often captures the mood of a situation more truthfully than you realised would be possible. Timeless images from a timeless film.
Kodak - properly known as Kodak Eastman - was founded in America in 1888 and dominated the "Western" world of photography for the next 100 years, constantly in fierce rivalry with the Japanese Fuji. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. A late attempt to win in the compact market was hit by the rise of mobile photography and bankruptcy followed in 2012. Fortunately the photography business has survived under the Kodak Alaris name - based in Hertfordshire, England - and they have delighted the analogue industry by pledging continued support for film production and the promise of bringing back old favourite emulsions.

This was my first sheet with colour sheet film. Previously I had used black and white film and been fairly happy with the results and spotted some errors... and then onto the expensive colour film. I had a good idea of the scenes I was going to take. Fortunately the range of light in the scene was not too wide so I just took a good average exposure reading. I used a 210mm lens on the Intrepid 4x5 Mk V. I think it was about 1/15th second a f32. I processed the film at home using the Stearman Press and the chemicals were the Bellini C41 pack.
I was really pleased with the colours on this image and really makes a case for 4x5.

For natural colour
Really solid film to rely on for good results all the time. Fairly forgiving as well which makes it a bit of a workhorse film that is still capable of producing the best of results with lovely colours.

Out of date shoot
I shot this sheet film whilst it was out of date and not having enough chemicals for my specific tank so I have a demarcation line, but I still think the images are good, and I'd recommend this film!

Rarely disappointed
A fantastic all-rounder. I tend to rate 5x4 @100iso and run it as normal for a little contrast boost. Always great colour, in bright or shady conditions. Always keep my fridge stocked with this - thanks for the good prices and speedy service.
