I bought a three pack of Lady Grey, intending to use it in some zoom compacts to feature on my channel. When it arrived I found it had no DX code on the cannisters, so no good for DX cameras with no override.
After buying the film I subsequently saw some speculation the the film is, in fact, Fomapan 400 and that upset me because I have given up on Foma films because of suspect quality control affecting some emulsions.
I have now shot my first roll in the Fuji STX-2 and developed it in Ilfosol 3. I have to say the results were very satisfying - good contrast, detail and finer grain than you would expect from Fomapan 400, which made me think the speculation was wrong.
The box states "Made in the Czech Republic", so it is almost certainly Fomapan. I then compared the look to some previously shot films and came to the conclusion that it is actually Fomapan 200 pushed one stop.
Yes this gives good looking images, but Fomapan 200 was about £2 a roll cheaper when I bought the Lady Grey, and Fomapan 200 has DX codes and also frame numbers on the negative margins.
In conclusion: I will not be trusting Lomo again, thankyou, but I also believe that AW know exactly what is contained in the Lomo packaging, and for not making us aware of it they get their first black mark from me.
