Great for beginners, perhaps not experienced shooters

These notebooks are super handy for jotting down your film notes, but they seem geared more towards people who are new to photography in general and not experienced shooters. They have some really useful information for anyone who is starting their film journey, but it would have been nice if there were two versions available, one for newbies and one for more experienced shooters with more pages to write on. Size-wise, they are exactly the same size as field notes, which makes them easy to fit into your pocket.

Great idea, but...

There are detailed note pages for only 6 films, but then 20 blank pages which could be available in any cheap notebook. More pages for detailed notes, please!
The six pages for contact details are useful if you need to record that level & type of detail.
The summary of the "Sunny 16" rule at the front of the booklet is a good reminder when photographs are being taken without use of a light meter. The other technical advice on aperture, film ISO, etc. is far better learnt from other sources & is a bit wasted in a field notebook.

A really handy tool for improving your photography

I've been shooting, developing and printing b&w for forty years, yet still have far too many failures. With the large increases in the costs of film I need to be more disciplined with my photography. Since recording (almost) all my photographs my success rate has improved as it's it's easier to analyse what worked and what could be improved. These little books are well produced and quite robust out in the field. A bit on the pricey side but I reckon I've saved the cost in film!

5 points for the idea but only 3 for execution

So this is an excellent idea. The valuable pages have a pre-created template where you can record the details for each shot you take on a roll. Great for rememvering and learning. A later section has a place to store the details for people you take a photo of.

The problem is the proportion of good vs meh in the notebook. The first 8 pages ish are taken up with some quite basice explanation of gow a camera works (think ‘what is aperture’). Then there’s only enough space for 6 rolls worth of details. The there are LOADS of blank pages. Then enough for 24 people’s details.

I think theycould have got rid of most of the blurb ar the beginning (there are much better places to learn this from), halved (or less) the number of blank pages, and replaced all that with more rolls’ worth of templated notes. At this point - at £7 for two - this would have been an excellent purchase.

So overall good - but it needs to lean more into its USP!
