I searched for a loupe, but could only locate jewellers' ones. I found the AP Magnifying Loupe whilst browsing AW's site. A competitive price and very suitable for the job. MG.
Super handy to have around. Use it all the time for checking negs and prints. Good value for money too!!
A bit redundant now that we have scanners and computer but who cares!! It's amazing to go 'old school' and look at the images in the flesh. This loupe really helps bring the slides to life. I no longer have to quint as I can now enjoy the full image and really see all the little details.
When viewing my negs on a lighted, I struggled to find the sharpness I was expecting - the image seemed distorted. When I compared it to an old linen tester, the linen tester seemed a lot clearer. I put it down to the way my varifocal glasses interacted with the magnifier's lens. I've upgraded my linen tester instead, and will be selling the AP magnifier on eBay.
