The film produces rich warm tones with strong reds and browns when used in Autumn sunlight. Nice fine grain for a 400 film.

I really love this film for the cinematic images it produces. The colours feel really rich and vibrant and the images are clear and very fine grain.

It has a halation effect around bright areas of the final image which cinestill is often known for. This effect isn't to everyone's taste so to be mindful of that before purchasing.

Overall, love this film and would definitely buy again!

This is a solid performer, looks better in 120 than 35mm in my experience but you'll get some solid results. Is it as good as Portra 400? No, but it's nice to have another 400 speed colour option.

Not a film I would be tempted to use again. I tested this film in a variety of conditions, and I am afraid I cannot agree with the description at all; grain is bearable, daylight balanced definitely not. the colour palette is far from soft and the colour shifts are rather disturbing. Saturation of reds and magentas is unnatural and other worldly, orange and yellow is always saturated to an extent that I find less than pleasing. Human skin also looks largely unnaturally tanned; the wide dynamic range is an exaggeration and I would say it is fairly easy to blow any highlights in a high contrast environment or in a well lit sunny situation. In fact I noticed it almost seems that colour shifts depend on the angle / direction of the light as well as its intensity. Very disappointing. (Their 800T seems more predictable with and without filters outdoors (can sometimes perform well without the filter) and indoors giving otherwise mundane urban environment some spark)
I would not want to push this film but would be interested to know what happens if you pull it. This is unpredictable film which seems to bleach blues and alter all reds, sometimes saturating them beyond a pleasing hue and sometimes turning light pink shades into full purple and violet; the claim that you can use it under 'virtually any lighting conditions' assumes you do not mind ending up with somewhat Lynchian result and often unpredictable result; a lot of blues get bleached it does not seem to have much sensitivity to any azure or turquoise hues; notice the pail stain of polluted scum on the surface of the lake which in reality was bright turquoise. The petals and flowers' variety of pinks turned all oversaturated purple and violet..
CineStill long term tradition seems to be that of half-baked products. In this case not a film I would want to use regularly.

Loving this film, got it in a mystery box and might have never tried it as I stick with Cinestills 800T mostly from the Cinestill family. So glad I tried it, got some of my favourite photos on it! Lovely colours, the imperfections really add charm and character to your shots. Cannot
