A curate's egg

The quality of APS film is excellent - or is it because it was the first decent camera I used after the ancient family probably-free-with-something 110 - and, back in the day, the ability to switch between colour and black and white, frame size, or speed simply by removing the cartridge was so useful when you didn't want to waste film. The tiny cameras (this image is shot with Fujifilm on an old Canon Ixus) were as portable to use as a camera phone. The negatives are tiny, but every shot was clear and absolutely perfect for sticking up on a wall or in an album, if not larger prints. But. It was incredibly expensive in comparison to 35mm, and perhaps because of this is a bit tricky to get developed - I don't develop at home but am led to believe this isn't possible with APS? I wish it was a bit more user-friendly in 2020 terms as, whenever I look at my old photos, I really want to hunt down an old Ixus and bring it back to life!
