When you want your reds to be really red...

Red-bias film, so don't mess about shooting blues and greens with it - go. full-red. I love the grain and the contrast. Exposure is good, better in good light. Really enjoyed shooting this film and I'm making a red-themed frame set of the best shots.

A strong look, so not an all-rounder

This film is Harman Phoenix (original) rolled backwards so that the light goes through the emulsion in the opposite direction, this means the shorter wavelength light is blocked causing the red colour and a reduced ISO sensitivity.
I tried it out as it is a limited edition film and I've never tried redscale film before, the results were interesting but I don't think quite as exciting as other experimental films like Lomo Purple. I would say to treat this like a black and white film and look for compositions with contrast and form rather than use it for travel as I did.

Phoenix….undecided!

I really want to like Phoenix but it doesn't make it easy for me! I get the interesting colours, but I find it very fussy about light, incredibly grainy in anything other than very full lighting. Looking forward to trying its upgrade.

Quirky, but fun

Used this sim on a photowalk in Brixton. The film was supplied for free by Harman, and it wouldn't have been my first choice, however I did get some nice shots.

You can get some nice colour shifts and certain subjects really work well with this film. It also does work very well with street photography.

I did get some interesting light patterns on the scans of the first 5 or 6 shots, and the redscale nature of the film seems to have played havoc with the scanner that was used meaning effects were very inconsistent across the shots.

Perfect for industrial shots!

I LOVE this film, I like to shoot industrial areas which are quite imposing, mechanical and brutal, Harman red compliments this perfectly and makes for some excellent shots
