Description
SantaColor 100 35mm film was born from the success of Santa's workshop with high-speed B&W film (Santa Rae 1000). He felt pretty confident that his elves could make something magical with colour. And after a 2021 IndieGoGo campaign that raised nearly $200,000 he had the funds to do so!
It is a well known air surveillance film (makes sense for Santa 😂) made by a major manufacturer in the USA.
The film is a fine-grain, colour negative film compatible with the C41 process, yielding results with punchy reds and lush greens. It is more saturated than the Kodak Portra series, but less saturated and with a longer contrast curve than Kodak Ektar 100.
SantaColor 100 is flexible and can be pushed to 800 ISO with only a minor loss of colour accuracy and a minor increase in grain. Shot at 400 ISO and pushed +2 stops in development, the film exhibits accurate colours and an almost grainless look, typically associated with films like Kodak Ektar 100 or Kodak Portra 160.
The film is freshly made and is a 100 ISO colour negative film compatible with the normal C41 process. As this is not a movie film, it does not have any special (remjet) backing and can therefore easily be processed by the WonderLab.

I buy a roll of this every time I get a hankering to take photos of things that give me some red - always produces interesting punches of red (and green too), making ordinary photos much more appealing. I will be purchasing some in anticipation of my tomatoes ripening!
I took a roll of this on holiday and really enjoyed how much it made red things pop! I've also shot another and pushed 2 stops which gives a totally different look, it seems like a great film to play around with and have fun.
Got this film in a mystery box and could not be happier. Colours, especially reds, greens and blues, really pop, and the grain is so fine as to be non-existent. I will say there's some light piping which I'm told is to be expected from a respooled film, but I quite like such things, your mileage may vary. Thanks Santa!
A gift that did a great job in my olympus trip 35. Its easy to think about the reds but when not present, it still produces lovely pictures and I keep coming back to it beyond just being a bit different because I like the colours it produces!
Another, even better, experience with SantaColor 100! Only pushed one stop this time, which I think performed much more satisfactorily than pushing two stops. The reds and pinks are always strong and gorgeous, but I was pleasantly surprised with how the daytime beach scenes came out with the blues.
I shot this film at 400 instead of 100, as suggested; gave me some super weird results, unsure if an exposure issue or developing issue but not what I was expecting regardless. Would love to try it again as has really nice colours and saturation, but I would shoot at box speed next time.
Gorgeous film, saved for Christmas Day. I shot this at 400 ISO and had it pushed +2, which I'm not sure I'd do again - I think I'd stop at 200 ISO next time - but the results are lovely.

shot the roll on an olympus mju and it gave an incredible colour film and very crisp images. the red isnt overpowering but anything red toned stands out beautifully so chosing scenes with red come out wonerfully

First roll of Santacolor 100 shot at box speed. Really pleased with the results & will definitely use it again.
I had this film in the fridge for a while and hadn’t tested it because of its low ISO. I know it can be pushed, but I wanted to see how it performed at box speed. So I decided to take it with me one day and test it with studio lights, and I was pleasantly surprised by the results.
The sharpness is very noticeable, especially in the texture of the hair and eyelashes. Skin tones feel natural and true to life, without that magenta cast you might get from Ektar 100. Another thing worth noting is the film’s wide exposure latitude, visible in how it maintains shadow detail while keeping highlights crisp (you can really see it in the gradient on the cheek).
I love the tonality and softness it produces. The reds are bold, but overall the emulsion leans slightly cooler than other stocks like Pro Image 100. I’d definitely recommend using this film for portraits with flash; it reacts beautifully to artificial light, giving a neutral colour balance that you wouldn’t get from daylight films such as Pro Image 100, which tend to run overly warm indoors.
I like that this is an original film and the fact it's based off of surveillance film is cool. I pushed this two stops when I tried it so I've not seen it shot at box speed but its a nice film and one you should try out.
