Description

The Super System Universal Developing Tank!

The critical piece of home-development kit: this is where you will hold your films (either 2 x 35mm or 1 x 120, 127 or 620 at a time) while they are put through the various stages of development: develop, stop, fix and wash.

An ingenious light-proof system means that you can pour the chemicals in and out of the tank in full light, and it comes with a water-tight plastic lid for when you need to agitate the film (fancy term for shaking it to make sure the chemicals get all over the reel!)

The included 35mm reels have a mechanism for easy winding when in the dark: catch the start of each roll of film and then move one side back-and-forth to advance the film quickly and gently.

Get the best out of your work

I cannot recommend home developing enough (although if you have to use a lab, use Analogue Wonderland 😉), nothing adds to the excitement and achievement of a good picture like having created the negative yourself. So little is needed too, a room you can darken (my downstairs loo does the job), a basic thermometer, a measuring jug and some chemicals and you're ready.

Good choice!

This tank takes less fluid per film than some others on the market, making it overall more economical if you are using a "one-shot" developer.

Easy to use and no light leaks

As the title says. Great for beginners. Now that I shoot more film I sometimes wish I could develop three 35mm reels at the same time but this doesn't take too much space in the cupboard.

Economical

The tank takes 500ml of developer for a 120 film whereas my other brand tank needs 600ml. This is more economical and just as useful.
Only criticism is that these tend to leak.

Durable and easy to work with

The Paterson tank benefits you over the other brands as it requires less chemistry to process a film- 500ml for a 120 size film rather than 590 or 600ml.

The downside is that Paterson tanks are notorious for leaking when you agitate so put down towels or some kitchen roll and put the cat out before you start!
