I ADORE this film

One roll through a Nikon FE and I’m in love. The results have a lovely texture, with decent contrast that can be played with when scanning. Developed at home in a Paterson Tank with Ilfosol 3 at 1+14, and I can’t fault the results.

I was slightly worried by some reviews mentioning the absolute need for good light, but even in dull days I was shooting down to about 1/15th handheld and things were coming out sharp. Obviously a tripod would be even more secure.

I’ve got another roll ready to go, and really looking forward to it.

Developing time was amazingly short (just 4 and a half minutes); and dry for scanning in about two hours.

PanF at a low ebb

I mis-read the tide times and so you can't see half this wonderfully-ramshackle old boat tucked away in one of the marsh creeks.

Before it goes in the recycle bin and I make sure I time it right next time, it still makes half a picture, with some decent tonal range which didn't need too much of a tickle when the scans landed.

Pan F's certainly going to be in the frame next time I head up there.

I shot this hand-held on a bright-ish day on a 24mm. Probably take a tripod next time.

Out of the frying PanF - into the spire

This cooked up a treat when I sent it to the Wondies.

You can see why people love the results from these legacy films, which is what's kept them alive.

And this is one of the GOATs.

I'm not a great tripod lover but I plonked the camera on one for the church interior, which I tried on some wides through yellow, orange and red filters.

I bracketed a couple of stops as I didn't know how they'd get on exposure-wise.

There's also a few stops between the main window at the end of the main bit (nave..?) and the interior.

Probably lost a bit of image quality like sharpness I snuck back in post.

It's part of a story I'm slowly doing and I wanted a timeless image inside the church to go with a GV of the building.

I'll rarely use this film because you do have to take your time with it, but it delivered some great scans.

Ilford panf 50

Used this for a series of portraits to get a real low grain high detail result. Needs good light due to the low iso and NEEDS DEVELOPING QUICKLY AFTER SHOOTING

Lovely tones, potentially a new favourite bnw stock

Developed in pyro 510, digitized at home with full frame camera. I found the 50 ISO a bit limiting, but with fast lenses it is still quite versatile. Grain is low but what is there is pleasing. The contrast and overall rendering of this film is really nice IMO.
