Kodak - properly known as Kodak Eastman - was founded in America in 1888 and dominated the "Western" world of photography for the next 100 years, constantly in fierce rivalry with the Japanese Fuji. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. A late attempt to win in the compact market was hit by the rise of mobile photography and bankruptcy followed in 2012. Fortunately the photography business has survived under the Kodak Alaris name - based in Hertfordshire, England - and they have delighted the analogue industry by pledging continued support for film production and the promise of bringing back old favourite emulsions.

I have enjoyed using Kodak Professional range films like Ektar so I wanted to try ProImage 100 as a lower cost alternative. I shot my first roll in the rather ugly Olympus AZ300 Superzoom which has shot some nice B&W images. When I got the scans from the Wonderlab I found the colours to be natural and not super saturated like Ektar. Viewing the shots at full screen it was obvious there was noticeable grain, which surprised me. Other consumer grade films I have shot in the past, like Agafa Vista 200 and Gold 200, had finer grain than this. Is it the film? Camera's exposure? Processing? Who knows? I don't dislike the look, but this film may not be my budget choice in future.

Happy snapping :)
I love this film! It's easy, on the cheaper side and the colours always come out beautifully
Excellent film! I used it once before and decided to shoot it again on a brighter day. Pro Image is the only film that compares with it is Kodak Portra 160, with images being near identical. Portra 160 definitely has an edge on Pro Image (I can't quite put it into words), however Pro image is a top film choice nonetheless, especially where considering it's nearly half the price of Portra 160.

New Favourite
Really like this film, it's become my new favourite colour 35mm film. Nice colours and plenty of detail. Grain isn't too strong. Has a really nice feel about it.

Good film
Good film, but I've expected more. It's better to use in sunny day. But unexpected good result at night.
