My go to B&W film

This is my favourite black and white film and the one I reach to most. Price doesn’t hurt either! I love how clear my photos always come out with good contrast and depth both when shot inside and out. It has performed well for me both in sunny conditions and when used on darker winter days. This is my number 1 B&W film.

Favourite B&W film

Always the best results from this B&W film. Even with automatic cameras I’m always surprised by how great details and contrast come out on this film, shooting both day and night. Always a staple in the collection!

A fantastic film.

HP5’s reasonable price aside, the main reasons of my affinity to this film so much is how easy it is to push the film 1 or 2 stops giving great flexibility and just the finish for what I’m looing for. Best pushing to 800 for for me. Overall though, is the power it gives for playing around with light but especially the shadows and darkness which is where my soul lies in my photography.

The most versatile black and white film on the market

Okay, some films may have more contrast (T-Max/Tri-X), or finer grain (Ferrania P30), or are even cheape(Kentmere 400), but in my opinion, HP5 plus is hands down the most versatile black and white film you can buy. It can be pushed for more contrast and more speed, it's forgiving if you mess up on the exposure, it's under £10 for a roll of 36 and it's pretty easy to develop yourself. And you're also supporting the British film industry by buying film made in the UK! What more could you want?

Very new to film photography and first time shooting B&W. Found this film very forgiving, and managed some half decent shots.
