Kodak - properly known as Kodak Eastman - was founded in America in 1888 and dominated the "Western" world of photography for the next 100 years, constantly in fierce rivalry with the Japanese Fuji. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. A late attempt to win in the compact market was hit by the rise of mobile photography and bankruptcy followed in 2012. Fortunately the photography business has survived under the Kodak Alaris name - based in Hertfordshire, England - and they have delighted the analogue industry by pledging continued support for film production and the promise of bringing back old favourite emulsions.

Sometimes AW have had unboxed film on special deals like this one, which was 4x36 exposure films without outer boxes for £45 (now sold out I'm afraid). This deal saved about £4 a roll so was very attractive indeed.
I have used Portra 160 before - its a top film and although relatively slow, at 160 ISO it has plenty to cope with dull days.
I would use it more if it wasn't so expensive so whenever a deal like this comes out I snap it up, and would advise you to do the same! They did a similar deal with Kodak Ultramax recently too.
Some photos attached from a previous Portra 160 to show how good it is even in dull and wet Nidderdale conditions. Fantastic when its bright.

Portra 160 in Low Light
First time using Portra. Used my OM101, and toom a few chances in lower light conditions (sunset, indoors and at night with a flash). Still surprising how beautiful and detailed it is. I think the colour representation is the beauty of this film.

Nice film for everyday shots
It's one of my favourites, it can push well if you can push in the lab.
I bought a lot of this film when I couldn't get Portra 400, and I was not disappointed. It doesn't have quite as bright colours, but it's a great quality film, especially on a sunny day.

Rome
Took a couple of rolls with me to Rome in May as I knew it was going to be pretty sunny, also ended up using it with flash at an event as I hadn’t quite finished the roll
