Beware highlights

Used with the I-1 camera and gives generally OK results. I don't always follow the makers' suggestion to use the flash even with outdoor shots. The sample image was taken this way. Use the smartphone app for better control.

Fun to use

This warm / slightly sepia b&w polaroid film is fun as a change from colour and has varying contrast in results, with best shots coming from brighter outdoor locations. I enjoyed experimenting with it and achieving some really nice, artistic shots.

I prefer to use B&W Polaroid film as colour can be a little inconsistent sometimes, and this is a solid film for i-Type cameras (coming in slightly cheaper than the 600 version). The current version of Polaroid Originals' B&W can be a little hard to expose sometimes due to low latitude, but is generally decent with flash. It has a slightly warm tone to it which works well with portraits and candid shots.

In my experience it has lasted well past the expiry date - I've shot packs over a year expired and they were fine, so you don't need to worry about shooting it all at once.

Could be better

Some of the shots I've taken with the B&W iType film have been outstanding. Others not so much. There's room for improvement with the film. And the B&W tends to turn brownish over time. So expect a vintage sepia look after a few months/years.

Enjoyed it

Used a frozen Polaroid Originals pack from 2016. Once you put it in, be sure to shoot it all in a few days, because the later shots I took had already partly dried up. The emulsion does not live long in these, but I'm glad we have something ;)
