Description

CineStill 400D 35mm film is a fine grain daylight balanced colour negative film that delivers a soft colour palette with natural saturation and rich, warm skin tones.

The film has a wide dynamic range (hence its full name Cinestill 400Dynamic 35mm), with a base sensitivity of ISO 400, but it can be rated from 200 to 800 and it can be pushed up to 3200. This makes Cinestill 400D highly versatile, usable both indoors or in the studio, under virtually any lighting conditions.

400D was specifically designed for still photography to be processed in C-41 chemistry by any photo lab or at home. In addition, it also features a process-surviving anti-static lubricant coating ideal film for both manual SLRs and automatic winding cameras.

Cinestill 400D 35mm film continues CineStill’s ongoing tradition of cinematic film emulsions made for still photographers, allowing them to maximize their creativity and produce remarkable images that express who they are as artists.

Fun with halations!

A nice film, i'm a big fan, wish it was cheaper but hey ho (if it was £10 cheaper a roll thats 5*). Takes a while to get used to it, and learn how to get the best, i'm optimistic about future rolls! Long live halation!

CineStill 400

Picked this film up at the Excel photography exhibition, gives great colours a clarity even at 400 ISO, I believe there is a 50 ISO version which I would like to use next.

Gorgeous cinematic colours

Trying two rolls of this film on my getaway in the Cotswolds, I was stunned by the perfectly captured the colours and tones of the landscape and subjects. Rendered in gorgeous sun drenched light, the film has enormous latitude for high contrast scenes and amazing colour rendering. I was impressed by the jaw dropping shadow detail and variety of colours, this film really showed off the quality of the Pentax lens in the best way. Clearly this film is a dream to scan and I can't wait to see the results from a darkroom print.

Retro glory

This is lovely film to use. I love the colour palette and the fine grain. I used it on a grey winter day and the results were lovely. It’s great for outdoor portraits (I don’t post any of these, as they were pictures of my children, but I’ve given you a portrait of a seagull!)
I find it too expensive for everyday use but it’s worth the price.

Great all rounder!

I normally shoot Pro-image, colourplus and ultra max but decided to treat myself for a trip to Amsterdam. Great results, with great consistency!
