Really like the contrast

Picked this up as part of a B&W deal that AW had on and thought I'd try it as I hadn't tried an ortho film before.

I probably didn't use it to it's full potential, but I really like the results I got from it. I used it essentially as a test roll for a new camera (Olympus Pen F half frame) with a pretty slow 150mm lens on a very bright day.

I'll definitely be picking this up again when I need 400 again

Worth a look

In overexposed areas, such as skies grain is very visible but has a quite a nice character. In other areas it is pretty much invisible. Dynamic range is good with lots of contrast possible though I did not find skies render very well and tend to blow out, I guess because of its skewed sensitivity. This means shooting into the sun can produce quite a glow. It can render detail well. Certainly worth a look and particularly looking at shooting at a lower ISO.

Who needs reds anyway?

Lots of grain and contrast, reds render very dark, definitely a distinctive graphical look. I shot it at 200 iso and most of my shots were still a bit underexposed?

A graphic delight

Having spotted this Ortho film on the site I was curious to see if it would bring a little something different to my shooting. At ISO 400 I could happily use it without waiting for summer. I ran it through my old Canon EOS300 with its 40mm F2.8 pancake lens trying shots in the snow, around the street and at home . I then sent off to AW for development.
The results were more than I excepted. Fine grain, contrasty, with an other worldly glow in places.
I love the graphic feeling to the images this film produces. I have loaded my second roll into my half frame as the fine grain would probably work wonders there.
Portrait shots can have an interesting but on occasion ageing effect.
I need to grab some more and hit the streets as this , I believe, would make a dramatic street photography film, especially on those sunnier days.
