I love the feel of this paper. It's closer to card than paper as it is nice and thick. The downside being that it takes an eternity to fix and wash, so it's not "economical" in that way. Well worth your best negatives though, especially if you are looking to display in a gallery (sadly I'm not that famous 😜).
I've got pretty mixed feelings about this paper. Although it's a premium product I just can't shake the feeling that it lacks some sharpness compared to the RC papers. Just my humble opinion.
I recently booked a one-to-one darkroom workshop with a well regarded photographer and darkroom printer. He requested I bring a box of 10 x 8 Ilford MultiGrade FB Warmtone Paper - Gloss, with me. I was a little concerned about the use of a Warmtone paper as some of the images I wished to print had significant areas of white, and I was looking for 'punchy' whites in the finished prints.
At the end of the day I had some superb prints, with strong whites, rich blacks, and an overall contrast that was very pleasing. I would use this paper again, but would also be interested to see how it compares to the 'Classic' paper.
I had also left it a little late to purchase my paper and Analogue Wonderland were the only people I could find with any in stock. I placed my order, and it arrived in the next day's mail! Excellent service from AW :-)
