Kodak - properly known as Kodak Eastman - was founded in America in 1888 and dominated the "Western" world of photography for the next 100 years, constantly in fierce rivalry with the Japanese Fuji. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. A late attempt to win in the compact market was hit by the rise of mobile photography and bankruptcy followed in 2012.
Fortunately the photography business has survived under the Kodak Alaris name - based in Hertfordshire, England - and they have delighted the analogue industry by pledging continued support for film production and the promise of bringing back old favourite emulsions.

great margin for error, so great for beginners. have been shooting on an old yashica rangefinder just for tests and am happy with how this film held up.
The gold standard (pun intended) for colour film. Lovely warm, summery vibes with every photo.

Bit of a weird review but I can tell it's a decent film
Ended up somehow double exposing the whole film. No idea how....?
I can tell the quality of each picture individually would have been pretty good and while a lot of the film was wasted there was some happy accidents
There's something about gold that just makes sense for holidays. Everything looks a just that little bit sunnier. Wish you were here indeed.

I am normally an ektar or portra loyalist (depends on how rich I feel at the time), however when I went travelling I needed a good all rounder at a good price point, and so opted for kodak gold. I'm honestly impressed with many of the pictures, and how well it coped in the cloudy conditions.
