Tri-X stands the test of time

Still a great film for the grittier look.

Tones come up better with a bit of help in post.

Good but there is better

If you aren’t completely taken by the look of this stock, others are available. When I choose a 400 B&W I’m usually pushing it, and the Ilford stocks push better. That doesn’t make this a bad film though, it’s reliable and it does have a look that some love.

Tri-X pushed to 800 iso

Grainy images from interior shots of a run-down hotel but they are incredibly atmospheric and very obviously not digital images. Pushed to 800 iso on the recommendation of a friend but very interested to see how it will look at 400 iso on the next hotel visit.

Grainy but a classic

I find pushing this film one stop or two makes it too grainy and contrasty so I prefer to use it at box speed. It's iconic, though, and priced well, considering.

Push it for contrast!

Amazing film, my premium b&w option and amazing contrast when pushed.
