Rollei Retro 80s is an interesting black and white film that can be shot down to ISO 32 and up to 100 - so a very interesting emulsion for situations that are guaranteed to be bright (sunlit holiday destinations or extreme studio set-ups).

Great detail and wonderful image quality, your photos will look fantastic in Retro 80S 35mm.

As a company Rollei is most famous for it's cameras - particularly the iconic twin-lens Rolleiflex - but this German-based company founded in 1920 has also had a long history of making B&W films. Unfortunately the parent company didn't survive the digital revolution of the 90s/00s but the brand survives today under licence to AgfaPhoto - who continue to support emulsions old and new.

Very juicy

Used this out in sunny Vegas, pictures came out pretty juicy and super detailed but while the description says to use in "sunlit holidays" I actually think it was too sunny!
Will use again but probably during an English summer

Super contrasty

Best when there is bright sunlight (although easily becomes overblown) - I struggled to get many good shots on the mainly overcast days I was shooting, and none of the evening ones were successful. We live and learn! I think once you get to grips with it some great shots will come.

Rollei Retro 80

Shot these old posts up Thornham in Norfolk.

They didn't need a lot, just a tiny bit more range as it was a little too stark contrast-wise but otherwise nice results, definitely one I'll use again this winter.

Nice scans, hat-tip Wondies.

Intense

It's very intense film. The contrast. How some shots literally can get overblown because of the sun... It's especially perfect for architecture and street photography. Rollei is amazing. Will try out their other products soon.

Buttery smooth, perfect for portraits

Rollei Retro 80S is a relatively slow film, but what you lose in speed, you gain in smoothness and lack of grain. It also has extended red sensitivity, amazing for skin tones, and with the right chemistry, can also be developed as positive film. Not as versatile as some of the other films that are out there, but still one of my favourites.
