Real Living Wage and Lab Pricing Update

By Paul McKay

There is a lot of chatter about living costs in wider news at the moment - which is why I'm pleased to re-affirm our commitment to Real Living Wage for 2026/27.

The Real Living Wage is an independently-calculated and voluntary hourly wage, updated every year, to reflect the REAL minimum amount someone needs to live. We have been officially accredited since 2020, which has covered some of the most turbulent economic times in modern history. This commitment is a key pillar for the way we choose to run our business: one that is passionate about its customers and its product (film = 😍) but also one that fits into our lives and allows us to balance hard work with family time and enjoying our hobbies. This design principle carries forward into our contracts with our staff - we have paid the Real Living Wage from our very first permanent employee. Our accreditation with the Living Wage Foundation is a formal commitment that will be baked into our financial structure for as long as Analogue Wonderland is shipping film...hopefully for a very long time indeed!

In short - this means that we pay more money to our staff than our legal obligations, and we commit to an independently calculated annual pay increase each year. This year that increase is +6.7%.

Lab pricing

The increase in our employee hourly rates could be reflected directly in our annual lab price changes. However we've chosen to reflect a smaller percentage - in recognition of the reality that this is a difficult economic environment for all our community.

So while we are making changes which will go live this afternoon, the average increase is closer to just 4%.

And I have good news... 👇🏼
