Bucks Business Awards: Finalists 2024

By Paul McKay

Last night Max and I put on our very fanciest suits and headed to Aylesbury Waterside Theatre for the 2024 Buckinghamshire Business Awards!

What Are The Buckinghamshire Business Awards?

The Bucks Business Awards Nights is an annual celebration of companies and organisations who are based in the county of Buckinghamshire. There are 78,961 businesses registered in Buckinghamshire (data end of 2023), all of whom are eligible to enter the awards.

There are 11 awards each year - rewarding different aspects of business excellence - and you get to see an awesome variety of ideas and teams across the night.

As part of the process every entrant gets interrogated on the company financials, historic growth, market understanding, team and customer care, and strategic intent. There are written submissions to prove your results and interviews to decide the shortlist and eventual winner. It's intense!

And the reward for making it through is a nice dinner! So not quite Squid Games level of tension

Analogue Wonderland: Finalist x 2!

Given the rigour of the selection process, the team were thrilled to find out Analogue Wonderland had been shortlisted for TWO Bucks Business Awards this year 🎉🎉

The first was the 'Enterprising' award, for businesses that can demonstrate "growth over the past two years; potential for future growth in the years ahead; examples of management responses to changes in market; and stand-out quality."

The judges for this award had spent a lot of time marvelling at our lab - the complexity of machines, software and people needed to scale something that remains so reliant on 90s technology 😂

Excellence in Customer Service

The second was the 'Excellence in Customer Experience' award, where judges were looking for "evidence of how the company has planned and invested in a culture of positive customer service; implemented policies and good practice protocols; how the organisation communicates with the customer; how effectively it deals with customer complaints; and evidence of an excellent customer experience through surveys, testimonials, and quotes."

I must thank each and every one of you who have taken the time to write us public feedback: whether that's on Trustpilot or on one of our lab services. The judges pored over the numbers and the wording to get a feel for how we truly treat our customers - and to be placed in the top three businesses in the whole of Buckinghamshire is an incredible honour. Thank you!

And The Winner Was...

Not us 😂

Sadly no gold medals for us, but I really can't feel too upset. The Enterprising award went to All Spring Media who support people in the TV and film industry, also partnering with local charities and youth groups; and the Customer Service award went to Ashridge Care Home who - by all accounts - are doing an amazing job at looking after their clients and families.

And we did walk away with two framed mementoes of our Finalist status, as modelled by Max:

Closing Thoughts

It was a real honour to be representing the analogue photography community at an evening like this. Max and I were stopped countless times by people curious about film photography - the reasons that people still shoot it - and how the team has grown over the past couple of years.

I firmly believe that the more visibility that is shone on analogue companies, the better the support will be for the whole community!

And honestly - out of nearly 80,000 Buckinghamshire businesses - to be shortlisted in TWO awards is an incredible testament to the quality work and commitment of my entire team. They are brilliant and I am so proud.

Finally - thank you to the whole film community for your ongoing support. Here's to building the future of film together 🥂
