Kodak - properly known as Kodak Eastman - was founded in America in 1888 and dominated the "Western" world of photography for the next 100 years, constantly in fierce rivalry with the Japanese Fuji. Similarly to Fuji the advent of digital photography at the turn of the century caused significant financial problems. A late attempt to win in the compact market was hit by the rise of mobile photography and bankruptcy followed in 2012. Fortunately the photography business has survived under the Kodak Alaris name - based in Hertfordshire, England - and they have delighted the analogue industry by pledging continued support for film production and the promise of bringing back old favourite emulsions.

Tmax 100 finest grain..?

They say it's got the finest grain on the box.

It's certainly not too overpowering and scans come back quite sharp.

Nice film, not that pricey in the scheme of things - think the Wondies are doing a discount atm.

Best Yield Yet

Great film, and as the title suggests, it returned the best results on a single roll I've seen in ages. I'm coming back for more!

First Roll of TMax 100 - Wow

This was a roll of firsts...

First with a new lens and, as a long time Ilford shooter, first with TMax 100. And... what a film this is; why have I waited so long.

So, to test it out, where better than a local ruined church for some leisurely, slow paced, mindful film photography. I'm loving the look, feel and grain structure of this film which has delivered all the detail in this crumbling ruin. In addition, the developing from the Wonderlab has resulted in some lovely contrasty images - just what I was hoping for.

I'll definitely be returning to Max 100 again.

Harrier on Tmax

I brought some roles of near expiry Tmax100 from AW and used them on a shoot with the Harriers at RAF Wittering.

I exposed them at 80iso as this seems to be the true value of this film and I developed them using the RH method using 510pyro and home scanned.

I was really pleased with the tonality and the way the film held up in the low setting sun and it took very little processing to get a great looking image.

A very good B&W filmstock

A great classic film stock from Kodak. The grain is very very fine as Kodak claim. I used an expired roll (probably nearly 20 years old) and still came out the camera brilliantly. Develops very well using Ilford ID11. Has great sharpness, contrast and does well in lowlight. It is quite pricey but worth it.
