Starting at the colourful beach huts our walk will take in the sea views from Amble South Pier with it light, overlooking Coquet island. We'll then head to the quayside with its fish markets and onto the marina and Coquet Yacht club. Leaving Amble we'll follow the River Coquet up Beal bank, passing several bird themed sculptures on the Amble Sculpture trail.

At the top of Beal bank we'll walk around the outside of Warkworth Castle (you couldn't do a photowalk in Northumberland without a castle!) And then drop down to the Medieval bridge where we'll finish the walk, although I would encourage everyone to gather in the Masons Arms afterwards for a friendly debrief.

Walking Distance:
4km (2.5 miles)
Accessibility Comments:
The walk will be mainly on paved paths, although some parts use grass paths, there are some cobbles in Warkworth at the bridge , and Amble Pier is wooden slats.

However, there are alternative routes that bypass all of these if they are an issue. There is a short climb up to Warkworth as the castle sits on high ground, and then down again to the bridge.

On sunny days this area can get quite popular so there may be some crowds, but mainly around Amble quayside and in Warkworth centre.

Amble is served by the X18 bus route which runs from Newcastle to Berwick. It also stops in Warkworth for those who want to bus back to the start. My intention is to park at the end and walk to the start and I would be happy to give anyone a lift back to Amble. There are several car parks in Amble near the start.

Alternative routes on pavements are available to bypass any non paved paths. It is all outside, and freely accessible so service animals are welcome.
