Walk starts at Tuckton Tea Gardens by Tuckton Bridge - refreshments and public toilets nearby. Parking is available on the road and in the car park (please give yourself extra time to park)
Local buses/train: Bus company More 1b & 1c stop at Tuckton Bridge from both directions.
Nearest railway station is Christchurch which is a 15 min walk to Tuckton or catch the 1b bus on Stour Road towards Bournemouth.

We will follow the River Stour having great views of Christchurch and the Priory. We follow the path onto Wick Meads (Marsh) and walk through and over the boardwalks of reedbeds and native hedgerows. We can make a stop at the bird watching platform overlooking Christchurch harbour. Before reaching Hengistbury Head visitors' centre we can walk down to a quiet spot at the water's edge (tide permitting). Reaching the visitors' centre we can enjoy the nature garden and local history dating back to the iron age. The centre is FREE to enter. From here you can walk to the top of Hengistbury Head with great views over to the Isle of Wight, Christchurch, Isle of Purbeck and back towards Bournemouth along the 7 mile beach. Alternatively, staying at sea level you can walk the sand dunes and go onto the beach. You will have time (about an hour) to explore this on your own before meeting me back at the visitors' centre to hand me back your roll of film. Hengistbury Head has a cafe and toilets. You can take the Beach Breezer 70 open top bus back from here to Tuckton.
