This 3.4-mile route offers a fantastic visual journey through Exeter, transitioning from the open, active waterfront up into the steep historic slopes and intimate lanes of the city centre.

**Waterfront & Industry**
The route begins at **Exeter St. Davids Station**, heading straight down toward the River Exe and the vibrant canal basin. At **Piazza Terracina** and **Kayakhub**, the landscape is defined by wide open skies, industrial bonded warehouses, and active water-leisure culture. Passing **Cricklepit Mill (PF99+WH)**, you cross the intersecting waterways at the edge of the old city walls.

**Historic West Quarter & Slopes**
From the river, the route climbs steeply into the characterful West Quarter. It moves along the historic, cottage-lined Bartholomew Street West past **Alma**, before dropping down to the nineteenth-century brick vaults of the **Exeter Catacombs**. You then head across the magnificent 1830s cast-iron **Iron Bridge**, which cuts cleanly over the deep valley below.

**Lanes, Greenery & The Finale**
The final stretch shifts to tight urban framing and expansive historic landmarks. You'll pass through the bustling, narrow independent shops and cobblestones of **Gandy Street**, before exploring the mature greenery and ancient Roman defensive structures at **Rougemont Gardens**. The walk concludes at **Exeter Cathedral**, anchored by its massive green yard and dramatic Norman towers.

Short cobbled road but can be rerouted for those who need to on the day. I can facilitate that. A steep hill or two with steps included. Again I’ll assist any who need to be rerouted. We are co leading the walk so we can work together to cover the main group and anyone else that needs rerouting for accessibility reasons
