The 'Oh heck!' effect!

Since coming back to film photography, I really enjoy the experimental side of the experience; i.e. not really knowing what will come out the other end! Hanalogital Autumn is one of those films. And to be honest, when I first saw the scans, I thought, 'Oh heck! A disaster!' So I didn't look at the scans again for a few weeks. However, I have now warmed to the effect - perhaps because it's now Autumn! The majority of the 35 images I took on my Nikon F55 will probably be quietly forgotten, but where the film soup magic happened. I was pleased. You take a bit of a gamble with these souped films, and the extra costs of the soup processing, but occasionally the joy of the winners makes it worthwhile. :-)

Over-hated

Sublime, experimental film! Film snobs should steer way from this. This is no different from Lomography Purple, Turquoise or Harman Redscale films. Let people have some fun! I personally liked the look of it. Very ethereal and dreamy. Will try other Hanalogital products.

I love this film!

This is such a fun, experimental film. Exposure turned out well in most shots. I really like how unpredictable some of the shots are, and the colour shifts are beautiful. The only downside is that it’s expensive to buy and expensive to develop (since it’s souped) but I do think it’s worth it!

Verrrrryyy expensive but kinda cool

My first time ever using a 'souped' film. Be aware it carries an additional £5 processing fee as they need to change the development fluid.
A bit of a mixed bag with my experience with this film. On one hand the chemicals they used affected the film so much that it curled up, came off the reel and I had to open up the back of my camera, over exposing the film and wind it back on.
The other side is that the 4/5 decent images I took I really love, they are proper trippy and gave off a real folky autumn vibe.

So, I'd say use at your own risk and be prepared to pay the costs but you might get something quite magical out of it.
