A great film, very impressed!

Bit late to the party on this one, I grabbed a couple of rolls of this last year when it came out as I wanted to support Harman in producing new film. Always been an Ilford fan so this is exciting! I must say I've been putting off scanning the roll I shot for a while as I have read that it can be awkward, but honestly I just threw it in my Epson and the results were fab! I tested it on a slightly overcast day in Shoreditch, and it did not disappoint. I suspect this might not be a daily use film, and the few shots I took indoors were certainly not so good, but on a nice day, bit of street photography or even woodland I really like it. Given that it is still essentially experimental it's a great base to work from. Looking forward to shooting the new version, but I would happily use this again as it stands.

Relatively disappointed in it.

Firstly it is very warm, it shift to the red and magenta a lot, the detail is also a bit lacking, the halations are also very annoying. I only shot one roll of this and wasn't willing to buy anymore.

Beautiful Colours

The colours explode with this film - I used in low light/golden hour and the oranges really came through.

Perfect for taking colour to the max and having a play around with trying different films
Would thoroughly recommend!

A vibe all of its own

This was my second roll of Phoenix at 35mm and, given the arrival of Phoenix 2, perhaps it won't be so easy to get any more! I wanted a mini-project to try to play to its strengths and settled on wooden pallets, especially colourful ones, which likewise make no pretence of refinement. The images I liked best were from decent light but avoiding large areas of overexposure, so sunnier conditions aren't always better.
It definitely has a very distinct look, which has been good for making me think about selecting subjects and then appreciate the results as images with their own vibe rather than an accurate rendition.
5 stars for it being prepared to be what it is and to do it boldly!

Nostalgic results, but tricky to shoot

This film can result in wonderfully vibrant photos when given just the right amount of light but even a small error of underexposure can cause the outcome to be crunchy and muddy. Very fun to experiment with regardless and I will be shooting this again in 120 next time!
